Maya Fowler is a writer from Cape Town. Her first novel, The Elephant in the Room (Kwela Books) was nominated for the Herman Charles Bosman prize. She has subsequently written young-adult fiction in both English and Afrikaans. Her book Om Op Eiers Te Dans won the Maskew Miller Longman award for youth literature in 2011.
