Tiah Beautement will be running two writing workshops for children at Milkwood Primary in Mossel Bay.
Where: Milkwood Primary in Mossel Bay
Workshop 1: Ten students from the foundation phase will put their heads together and build chain stories. Oh, the stories we will tell. The laughs we will have.
Workshop 2: Ten students from the upper grades will discuss Getting to Know Your Main Character. The theme: inanimate objects. The main example: a rock. What does a rock think about? Does it wish it could move? What has it seen? When a seagull does a doo-doo on it, does it make the rock sad? Does it wish for rain? When the talk is done, the children will pick out their own object (A key? A potjie pot?) and create their own tale.
While this event is not open to the public, Tiah has kindly agreed to offer the teaching worksheets she has devised for download. Should you wish to run your own kids’ workshop, please feel free to use them.
