Beatrice Lamwaka is the representative for PEN International Women Writers Committee in Uganda, Treasurer for Uganda Women’s Writers Association (FEMRITE), and a freelance writer with Monitor Newspaper, and Global Press Institute. She is the winner of 2011 Young Achievers Award in the category of Art, Culture and Fashion. She was shortlisted for 2011 Caine Prize for African Writing and finalist for the PEN/Studzinski Literary Award 2009, and a fellow for the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation in 2009.  She is working on her first novel and a collection of short stories.
