Huza Press is pleased to announce a call for submissions for its first collection of short stories from Rwanda.
The winner will receive USD 1000 and the top 10 will receive mentorship from some of the best writers from the continent and publication of their work. They will also have a chance to participate in regional literary events and festivals, and network with other African writers.
The Award aims to promote the best in Rwandan short fiction as well as introducing Rwandan writers to the rest of the world.
Deadline for submission is July 10, 2015.
Submissions Guidelines:
1. Open to all Rwandans residing in or outside Rwanda
2. Unpublished work only
3. Each writer may submit up to a maximum of three works of short fiction. Each piece should be no more than 5000 words.
4. Format: 2.0 spacing, 12 Font Times Roman
5. All submission to be sent to louise(at)huzapress.com
6. Each story has to be sent as a separate Microsoft Word attachment, in the .doc format (no PDFs) and clearly labeled with the story title and the names of the writer.
7. Submissions must contain the title of your piece and word count
8. Submissions must be accompanied by a biographical note of not more than 100 words as a separate word document. Please include your contact information.
9. Submissions can be in either English or Kinyarwanda.
10. All shortlisted stories will be notified by August 1, 2015
